Sorry for off-topic in advance, but I like the knowledgeable people
here...

I want a advice about the direction I should go now. I am 39 years old
male. I have telecommunications engineering background. I have been
working as a programmer (firmware). Now I am out of job and I do not
feel I can be a programmer again. As I have a hardware background now
I am thinking if I should be a computer technician and if this is good
job? I like to learn more about home networking, installing
hardware/software (virus scanner software) and make that as a business
so I can go to people to install home network. I also want lean
wireless networking. Or should I go the learn OfficeXP and teach these
courses. which direction should I go, I would appreciat any openion??
Thanks a lot.

First thing to do is get a CV together then do a mailing to as many contract
agencies as possible, listing all the areas in which you'd be prepared to
work. With a firmware background your techie skills should be easily
marketable.

You might want to look at working for a cable company or ISP as a broadband
field tech for a low stress job with some social contact, travel (as in not
sit in an office all day), and growth opportunity. They are doing wireless
networking now too, and it's only going to expand into more fields as they
become more computer (multimedia)-oriented.

Plus, I'm sure you can get yourself some free cable and broadband internet
service that way, that's worth it alone, isn't it?
