I have a problem running some graphics applications and some games.
Looking at DxDiag, I see the following error reported:
"DxDiag has determined that there may have been a problem accessing
DirectInput..."
I then did a lot of testing to see what might be causing DirectInput to
choke, and disabled sets of services until I found that DirectInput ran just
fine when Microsoft Plug&Play was not loaded. Only disabling P&P alllowed
DirectInput to operate just fine after rebooting (of course disabling P&P
cripples the computer to a near-nonfunctional state itself, so that's
impractical)
I understand that the problem might not be with Plug&Play itself, but with
one of the many drivers that P&P loads.
How do I see what P&P is handling specifically so that I can isolate
whatever is causing problems with Plug&Play and thereby problems with
DirectInput?
And if I am incorrect in my assumptions, please don't hesitate to say so!
thanks in advance!
