We have 4 users on our WindowsXP and whenever someone
logs on to one, directcd starts and takes up massive
amounts of cpu. Once everything loads, you can just shut
directcd down, but until then you have to wait between 10-
15 minutes. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to
fix this? Is directcd even neccesary?

In the first place, DirectCD is part of Roxio's Easy CD Creator, not Windows
XP.

DirectCD allows you to treat a writeable CD as if it were a partition on a
hard drive. For example, you can drag and drop files directly to a writeable
CD, or you can save files directly to CD. I suggest that you learn about
DirectCD's capabilities from the documentation provided with the program or
from Roxio's web site.

If none of the computer's users have use for DirectCD, it can be uninstalled
while leaving the rest of EZCD intact.

Alex,

Older versions of Roxio Direct CD are known to cause problems in Windows XP. Update Roxio to the version that supports Windows XP.
