Sisters Rig

2.0GHz Duron
A7N8X-E Deluxe Board
512Mb RAM
9800Pro Graphics
Windows XP

It wont run any games - Direct 3D information not availiaible/Disabled.

Its not a problem with the graphics card as had the same problem with a 5700LE, so i would say its defo software related.

I have reinstalled all the drivers, after uninstalling them and cleaning the remnants with a driver cleaner, reinstalled Direct X 9.0c and XP has all the latest updates.

I dont know what to do..

Any ideas?

Shall try that :) Thanks Ian

Yeah it comes up when you try and run a game, says cannot find any D3d compatible hardware, or D3d is disabled... something like that

Will give that a go and report back

Thanks again

Is it enabled in DXDiag?

1. Click Start, click Run, type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. In the DirectX Diagnostic Tool dialog box, click the Display tab or the Display 1 tab.
3. Click Enable next to Direct3D Acceleration, and then click Exit.

The GFX hardware is NOT 10c compatible!
"reinstalled Direct X 0.0c " = 10c ?

Try DX9 instead mate..?
Apologies if this is what you initially meant.

Be sure to get the latest ATi Drivers too ;)

It will not let you enable it, as information on it is unavailiable. When i can get on to my sisters machine, i'll post a screenie :)

I meant 9.0c :) sorry

Also, i have been using the latest ATI drivers from Sapphire, ATI and also Omega

None of the above made a blind bit of difference.

Will try the DX cleaner thing that Ian posted when i can get on...

File corruption... yeurrghh! :)

If Ian's util doesn't work - uninstall DirectX, delete any files left over, and search your reg for DX* and delete it.
(Back up first)

Alternatively - use CCleaner to do all the above :D

I cant find a working freeware DX 9.0c remover. Gah

The one in the link ian gave dosent seem to want to work for XP
