I'm not completely clear what it is you're asking for. If you want
to alias a folder (for example, C:\My Documents) so that it can be
accessed via it's own drive letter, then you should try the SUBST
command which is included with Windows XP. From the output of SUBST
/? :

C:\>subst /?
Associates a path with a drive letter.

SUBST [drive1: [drive2:]path]
SUBST drive1: /D

drive1: Specifies a virtual drive to which you want to
assign a path.
[drive2:]path Specifies a physical drive and path you want to
assign to a virtual drive.
/D Deletes a substituted (virtual) drive.

Type SUBST with no parameters to display a list of current virtual
drives.

Do you want a shortcut to the folder on your desktop? If so, in
Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder's parent folder, right click
on the folder that you want and select "Send To | Desktop as a
shortcut"

Or you could use the free trial (no time limit) program "Power Desk"
from:-

http://www.v-com.com/product/pd_free_trial.html

This allows you to have a tool bar which can be set up to start
programs with one click AND do what you want, create an icon linking
to any folder which can then be opened with one click. You can also
assign different icons to each button to enable them to be recognised
with a quick glance.

You need to provide a name and emial to get a rego number but they
never bug you with spam. Use a throw away email form, e.g., hotmail or
yahoo for this purpose.
