Hi,

I have a laptop and a PC connected with a crossover cable.
For some reason I can not access the files on both
computers. Nevertheless, I try playing AOE with both as
multiplayer game and it worked just fine. Both computers
share information.

If I am using the Windows Explorer, sometimes I can see
both computers, but I am unable to see the folders and
files, or XP just simply don't let me access the
workgroup.

I have Norton Firewall but I've tried disabiling it in
both computers and it just doesn't work.

Any suggestions about what can I be doing wrong??

Thank you in advance.

Just a shot in the dark, but did you tell windows which files and folder
to share? Windows doesn't share all you files or folders, even after
using the network setup wizard. It just turns on sharing. You still
have to turn on individual folder/file sharing. Anything being shared
will shown with a hand. To share a folder right click on it and go to
the sharing tab. You won't see files or folders of the remote system
that are not shared.

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I have some shared
folders, but it is not working. I tried setting up an IP
address for each computer and If I try a ping I get a
response from the other PC, I still have the problem where
I can not access both computers.

Any suggestions?

Are you configuring the IP's yourself? That's cool, but have you tried
letting XP assign IP's through DHCP? If you haven't tried that it couldn't
hurt to try.
