On booting up my computer, I get the following Bubble message "Direct Cd will
cause Windows to become unstable. Windows prevented the drivers from loading"
and the message continues with "For more information please click here"
When I do I get the following error message in a window called "Windows - No
Disk" : "Exception processing message c0000013 Parameters 75bc6bf7c 4
75bc6bf7c 75bc6bf7c" I went on the Microsoft support site and was advised
that this message was unknown and was asked if I meant c00000135 .... etc. I
took a chance and said YES and was told there was no such error message. Now
I can't use my cd drive, opening an attachment in an E-Mail in Outlook is
impossible. I even tried looking up my Device Manager and gave up after
waiting 3 1/2 minutes. How do I make this all go away

You have Windows Vista and a Dell.

DirectCD is included in older releases of Roxio Easy CD [and DVD]
Creator. It's old CD packet writing software that let's you treat a CD
like a floppy disk or hard drive. That method is not too reliable and
it's no longer included in Roxio products. Windows XP and Vista have
their own, better, method of burning CD's.

The solution is to go to Add/Remove Programs or the Vista equivalent and
uninstall DirectCD. If you still have problems then ask for help at the
user support forums at Roxio:

Direct CD is a very old Adaptec product (before they spun off into Roxio).
Direct CD is not compatible with Windows XP and was replaced by Drag-to-Disc
for versions of their product that were designed for Windows XP.

Packet writing to CDs is not to be recommended because it is unreliable. If
you really must do packet writing use DVD+RW (not DVD-RW) or, preferably, if
your drive supports the media DVD-RAM discs.

I am running XP Home edition SP3, cannot find Direct CD in "Add-remove
programs" do not and did not have Roxio installed on my computer, it was
preloaded with Nero Express.

DirectCD was originally an Adaptec software product. Adaptec then
"spun it off" in a different company, known as Roxio. Several years
ago, Roxio was purchased by Sonic. Check for any listing of the three
company names?

The Nero version of the packet writing utility is called InCD.
