Direct CD Burning

I want to burn files to cd-rws without having to go
through the new XP staging process. Any way to turn this
off and burn data files like I did in Win 2000 and before
by formatting a cd-rw from third party software and
copying directly to the cd-rw? Thanks for any help.

What "staging process" are you speaking of? Windows 2000 dosnt included any
software to burn CD's. Most third party software that works with 2000 works
with XP, but your question doesnt make a whole lot of since.

Turn off XP burning program by right clicking your
burner/properties/recording tab/uncheck enable recording

If your subject means you use Direct CD a third party program then you will
need to patch Direct CD 5 by visiting the www.roxio.com site. Versions of
Direct CD below version 5 will not run on XP and version 5 must be updated.
There are free patches to do this.

If your subject lines means that you want to burn directly to CD without
caching then you need third party software. Alex Nichol has a primer here
that will be useful to you http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/cdr_info.htm
