Hi there,

Two computers both running W2K SP4 we're connected via a CAT cable direct to
each computers network cards all was working well. Then one computer had
its hard drive formatted and reinstalled now we cannot get either computer
to see each other, both cards network properties show that they are sending
but neither is receiving.

Please can someone perhaps point us to any articles to refresh us in setting
up both machines to access each others folders and files.

Is there something we are forgetting to take into account as we are
connecting two W2K computers directly.

Many thanks for any advice, Tim.

The two machines need the same Network info.
On the machine that did not die. Open a DOS Comand Window, Type "ipconfig
/all" and hit enter. Take note of the output, especially IP and Mask. Then
on the rebuilt machine go to the IP Properties for the Network connection
and enter the same information but adding 1 to the IP, (i.e. IP of
machine1:=192.168.4.7 then IP machine2= 192.168.4.8).
