I have two computers, both running Windows 2000. #1 is connected to
the Internet through a LAN, #2 I want to directly connect to the host,
Computer #1. The problem is whenever I try to connect I get error 733
"Your computer and the remote computer could not agree on PPP control
Protocols. I've disabled "Negotiate multi-link for single link
connections" as reccommended by some websites.

The problem is with computer #1 because I can Directly Connect when
comp #2 is the host. But I need comp #1 to be the host to share the
Internet Connection.

Windows tells me the host should use the Netsh.exe utility to identify
the problem, but it doesn't say how.

Thanks in advance

Jake

Just a little more info:

When I disconnected comp #1 from the LAN and then attempted to connect
it worked. So now the question is: Can I get computer #1 to accept a
DCC while connected to a LAN.

I may be way off here, but I don't believe you can use DCC to share an
internet connection because it doesn't use the TCP/IP protocol. There is
theory on this topic however. Check here:

In any case, it seems like a major headache to configure and performance
with DCC (from what I remember) was always miserably slow compared to
ethernet. Why not just buy a cheap switch and another nic to split the Lan
connection?
