Direct 3D NOT available with new 3.7 drivers, display is slow

I remember going through this with earlier drivers.

I can not even boot up Unreal Tournament 2003 now as it tells me that
D3D is not enabled. I ran DXDIAG and it tells me that D3D is
unavailable.

Also, the display is slow.

I have a Hercules ATI 9700 Pro card.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

All is good here. this time anyway

I ended up installing the 3.6 drivers from Hercules and so far, so
good (but I haven't tried much).

I definitely remember going through this with earlier ATI drivers but
I can't remember how I fixed it!

I remember once where you had to run the 3d test and fail then disable then enable 3D then all would be good...DX7 i think hope it
works out..

I made the mistake of trying to install the new Catalyst drivers over the
omega driver that I had installed. I did uninstall the omega utilities and
control panel. I got into the habit of installing new drivers over the old
ones when I had an Nvidia card and never had a problem with it.

This time I did. Seems that I ended up with both sets of video drivers
installed. My display crawled like Windows 3.0 on an ATI Mach 8. In XP's
control panel I found that ATI Display drivers and clicked to uninstall.
That's when I saw that I had both the new Catalyst and the old Omega drivers
installed. I ticked both for uninstall, uninstalled them and rebooted.
Then I installed the new 3.7 drivers from scratch and boom..video
acceleration was back, and I might add, a tad faster than the 3.6 drivers.
