You should not remove a DIMM socket. If you in a position such that a
DIMM socket needed replacement(very unlikely) you would have been
trained to do it. Why do you believe you need to REMOVE the memory
socket from the circuit board?
First, unplug the machine to avoid electrocuting yourself, if you care.
Then get a sledgehammer and open the case. The pieces inside will
simply fall out, and you can throw away the DIMM socket.
Thank you for your "civil" reply Bob..
I was having ALOT of problems with the memory/parity on my
computer and that was one of the suggestions to "fixing"
the problem. I didn't know what it meant so I asked here.
I finally got on long enough to do a clean install of
windows 2000 and the computers working fine
now....again ....thank you for helping the computer
illiterate !! I'm still learning and appreciate your
input.
Interesting! I would be very leary of advice coming from someone
recommending that "DIMM sockets" be replaced. It would be less expensive
to discard the motherboard and get a new one, unless it was a "very
special" motherboard.
