Digital Video to DVD?

Hi all,

I am new with Movie Maker and I was wondering if someone could point me in
the right direction here.

I have a JVC GR-D33U Digital Video Camera. What I am trying to do is take a
video I recorded from the camera into Movie Maker, add some fades and titles,
and export it. Now, here's the catch. I want to export it to a file and
then burn to a DVD so I can send the DVD to some friends in the mail. So
ultimately I am looking for the best quality DVD that I can. I want my
friends to be able to drop the DVD into their stereo system at home and watch
the final product on their TV. Thus my questions...

What setting should I input the video into MovieMaker?
What setting should I output the final product from MovieMaker?

Thanks for any suggestions or input you may have.

Capture as DV-AVI, save movie file as DV-AVI. Your
DVD burning software will convert to MPEG2 before
burning to DVD.

If you need something smaller for Internet downloading,
re-open the project, and save movie as (one of the WMV
settings).
..

I should also clarify, I have the software to do the actual burning on to the
DVD and realize that MoveMaker doesn't do that. What I'm looking for is the
best input and the best output and will then take that file from my hard
drive and burn it to the DVD outside of MovieMaker. Thx!

Hello,

If using Movie Maker to eventual create a DVD then DV-AVI is the best
setting...but you still need a dvd authoring program...so you could use
possible the best available at our end of the market....Nero 6 Reloaded
from www.nero.com Nero can capture, Edit and burn the DVD all in one
package. The transitions and effects are customisable, unlike Movie Makers.
The DVD creation side of NEro is rather good with plenty of menu
templates...and of course each one of those is also customisable. Unlike
other DVD programs Nero understands the concept of more than one video on a
disk each of which can have its own menu system and chapters...in addition
unlike other program you do not have to go to the somewhat silly process of
cutting the film into chunks to create the effect of chapters

OK, in that case just use DV-AVI

DV-AVI is the best quality you can capture in and
save as, using WMM. It's very high quality.

I have the same question as SMH, however, when I changed format to DV AVI,
the file became too big (8 GB) to burn. Furthermore, how do you get these
disks to run on standalone DVD players? Why does it take Nero 4 hours to
burn as opposed to Sonic which takes 2 minutes?
