Getting started and buying all new equipment. Have brand new Dell computer
with high end video chip, USB and Firewire ports and DVD Burner.

1. Advantages of MiniDV verus little discs recorders?
2. What is best video editing software, can you add music to video?
3. How do I get my old VHS video tapes into digital format? Can they be
edited using video editing software?
4.

1, minidv can be editied by any video editing app if captured via firewire.
DVD cams are great for creating dvds which you just watch. If you want to
edit, you need mpeg editors and you cannot edit at any point as you can with
the dv-avi file that minidv and firewire creates.
2. The one which does the job you want it to, all will add music.
3. Use the digital camcorder if it has av-in and supports pass through.
Otherwise you'll need an analogue to digital convertor, and the more
expensive ones are much more reliable, see canopus or miglia.

I hate Pinnacle.

8/19/04:
"Installed Pinnacle Studio 9 SE and it removed all other actions from the
device connection pop-up list. How do I get back my original list,
including Movie Maker 2?

I hate it when companies take it upon themselves to reconfigure other
applications your system. I find this inappropriate, unprofessional,
disrespectfully of their customer, and down right rude, and major cause for
not using their product.

But how do I get back the original actions list?

Thanks"

I agree. I don't like any of the Pinnacle software I have tried in the past.
I very much prefer Ulead's applications.
