I AM TRYING TO INSTALL A DIGITAL READER IN MY XP SYSTEM.
I HAVE A "SONY" MEMORY STICK READER AND A "SANDISK"
MEMORY STICK READER.
I PLUG THEM INTO MY USB PORT AND NOTHING HAPPENS. THEY
DO NOT EVEN CONNECT TO THE DRIVERS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO
BE IN WINDOWS XP.
I TOOK MY COMPUTER IN TO BEST BUY AND THEY COULDN'T MAKE
THE READERS WORK EITHER. THE READERS WORKED ON THEIR
COMPUTERS OK, BUT WOULD NOT WORK ON MINE. THEY COULD NOT
FIGURE OUT WHY THEY WOULDN'T WORK.
ANY IDEAS?

Many have successfully used USB-attached SanDisk
CompactFlash readers on XP systems. The most important
thing to check is your USB ports. In XP, no driver is
needed, unless you have a super-new multi-card-format
device. In that case, there should be a CD-ROM with
drivers, or you could go to the SanDIsk web site
(Support) to see what is required for your hardware.

XP SP1 fixes several USB-related problems. For some
computers, a BIOS upgrade fixes USB problems, such as not-
recognized devices. Use Device Manager (My Computer |
View System Information | Hardware Device Manager) and
expand USB controllers. If you see a yellow mark, there
might be a driver problem. Make sure you also check
driver upgrades from your computer or motherboard
manufacturer.

Good luck.
