Just curious as I download and play with the various photo management
software packages (adobe album, digital suite 9, ACDSee, etc.) would any of
the members of this newsgroup share their pros and cons with Microsoft's
version. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

Just wondering, are you saying you downloaded
Digital Image Suite 9 from the web?

Here's a link to several user reviews of
Digital Image Suite 9 from the Amazon site.

I have tried several photo cataloging and photo editing software sets and find MS Dig Imgage Suite 9 to be the most productive. It's photo editing does not stack up to Adobe Photo Shop Full version, but Dig Image Suite is a fraction of the price. I particularly like the library and various abilites to catalog photos.

No, I haven't downloaded a copy of MS Dig Suite (is there one?). I have
tried many others and went through the demo videos on MS site to get a feel
for it. I also have watched the forums that most of these companies host
and it looks like archiving pictures in an easy to do and easy to keep track
of archived pictures is everyone's greatest beef. It is the one feature
above all else I am interested in. I have been dragging and dropping and
copying pics to cd for backup but would be nice to archive through a program
and still know where they are (without jumping through hoops of fire to get
them on cd and then find them again. Thanks for your input.

It really depends on what you want to do.
It is unlikely that you will have only one photo editing/managing software
if you do a lot of digital photography and you want to manipulate images and
print them.
To add text on a photo I always use DS9. To crop to a specific aspect ratio
to print I also use DS9, but in general I use Qimage to print. Free trial
here:

This software is not for everybody but in my opinion the best to print at
home.
To make collages or a huge poster, nothing like LumaPix. Free trial here:

If you are web oriented, Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.
And on and on. I think you have to experiment and then decide, but certainly
nothing wrong asking others about their experience and exploring what is
available.
Another photo editor widely used is available for free here:

Let's say there is not a legal download available.
