I have my photos on a mapped drive and it lists the structure OK but when I
add new folders they don't show in the DIL list. Further more I can't remove
the folders from the list (well I can, they just come back when I restart).
Is there any way to reset DIL's knowledge of my drives?

Many thanks.

Hello,

It's a little hard to understand what's going on without a listing of the
structure you've added to your Library. You have mapped a drive on your
system to a network location, is that correct? What location do you have
mapped and what subfolders exist in that location? Do all of those folders
show up in the Library? What folders are you trying to add that are not
showing up? Are those folders in the mapped drive? Also, what folder are
you trying to remove from the list of folders monitored by the Library? Is
it a subfolder of the mapped drive location you added?

For example:
I map Z: to \\mycomputer\images.
Any subfolders in that location are automatically added to my Library.
If I try to add something already there, it will not be added.
If I try to remove a directory underneath \images, it will not be removed.
If you only want some of the subfolders added, you need to only add those
subfolders.

Thanks,

Thanks for the reply Greg. Let me see if I can clarify a little.

I have a drive P: which is mapped to \\Server1\Photos$, which is actually a
sub-tree on my server (C:\Data\Photos). This structure, which contains many
sub-folders, contains all my photos. For example:

P:\Family\Misc
P:\Family\Dad
P:\Family\Mum
P:\Vacations\Florida
P:\Vacations\England\2003
P:\Vacations\England\2005
Etc.

I simply added the root P: to the library and have no desire to add or
remove any sub-folders manually through DIL, I simply want the structure to
grow in DIL as I add folders and photos to the disk.

However... If I remove the root P: it reappears next time I start DIL. For
the record I have a different entry that keeps reappearing as well. Also, I
have added folders further down the tree in Windows Explorer and populated
them with photos, but these new folders\photos do not show up in the P:
structure I have added to the library. It's almost like DILs index or
something has become corrupt (if there is such a thing) and won't accept or
reflect any changes.

Many thanks for your help,
Andy

I'm not sure exactly what is wrong. I would recommend posting in the
microsoft.public.pictureit newsgroup and see if anyone there can help. In
the meantime, instead of adding the mapped drive to the Library, just add
the UNC path. There shouldn't be a problem with adding mapped drives or UNC
paths. Could be a problem with the database but I'm not sure.

Let me know if that helps.
