digital canera/ scanner and camera wizard

I have windows xp pro running and when I connect my digital camera via USB..... i first get new hadware found...USB...etc...then it says new hardware...removable disk. It creates an new drive and I do not know how to get my photos from cmera to PC. I tried different way s of connecting. The only other message I seem to get is that the scanner and camera wizard does not detect my camera nad also that the same application has hidden files that maybe will not work. My camera drivers (for webcam) are installed and that side of things works but I want to transfer my still shots to PC...please somebody help...
I did contact camera manufacture who replied that intall disk for camera was only for wsebcam and that Windows XP should normally just transfer pictures using the wizard
Am at a loss
XCamera is Yakumo mega image IV...not a great camera but suffices for my very limited need
I have tried all that I know...even reinstalling windows xp pro
 
Don't know if this will work on your camera, but its worth a try. Go to
'the new drive that is showing when you connect your camera. Right click on
it and it should come up with some options of what XP will do whenever the
hardware (camera) is connected. Mine comes up with an option to open pics
in FinePix viewer which is the software that was loaded off the CD that came
with the camera. Select Always perform this action. Hope this works for
you. Might be completely on the wrong track though, still pretty new to XP.

was only for wsebcam and that Windows XP should normally just transfer
pictures using the wizard.
