Unable to use the restore function as there are no restore points. Any
help would be appreciated.

Please cross-post as opposed to multi-posting if you feel it necessary in
the future.

Can you create restore points?
(Is your only issue not being able to restore - or do you have other issues
you are trying to repair?)

Is System Restore enabbled? Start > All
Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore, System Restore
Settings.

if you can't access a restore point, then try to
allocate more disk space,but you cannot exceed 12 percent
of the availible disk space.in order to run, system
restore requires at least 200MB of available space on your
hard disk or on the partition.

No, this isn't even close to being right. He says there are no restore
points. If he had *some* restore points, making more disk space available
would permit him to maintain more restore points than he presently has, but
won't increase the number from zero.
