Difficulty in accepting meeting requests

When I am sent a meeting request, the email I receive
containing it does not appear have a tool bar
offering "accept" or "reject". I therefore have to enter
the meeting manually, rather than the meeting
automatically entering my calendar upon my
pressing "accept".

My Outlook version is 2002.

Please can someone let me know how, if at all, I can
configure the "meeting accept" function in Outlook.

Are you opening the meeting request e-mail all of the way?
That is, are you not just viewing it in the preview pane?
We have a similar problem here at work because a lot of
people just glance in the preview pane, and of course the
acceptance options do not appear in the preview pane.

If that's not it - then I'm stumped!
