Hello:

Why do programs work for the logged in user that
installed software on their account?

But when others log into their account(s) they have
problems with the installed software from other user
accounts?

Could it be that the registry entries are missing for
other user accounts?

NO SUPPORT for multiple user account at this time.
Giant made the application for stand alone user account
and now Microsoft is fixing it.

spysweeper 4.0 work with multiple user account.

Hello:

I'm not looking for support, I give support.

The answers are in the question.

I'm awaiting for MSMVP's including their best to step
up to the plate and debate this isssue among other issues
their involved in on a daily basis.

From Steve Dodson:
You have a limited user account running the application looking for spyware
on all files and folders. This includes the administrator account which
limited users may not be able to access. So we have to approach this
carefully in order to remove the spyware from all locations, but also
preserve file and folder permissions and access.

In short, we are addressing this for a future release, but it involves some
major coding and testing.

I don't have the background in what happens in the registry to answer this
one. Good, NT aware installers will ask whether the app is to be installed
for "all users" or for the current user only.

My understanding is that the user hive is separate and stored per user, so
your thought seems reasonable, but I sure don't know enough to say.

Hello Steve:

Thank you for replying.

My thrust is with the reg. entries from "Other Users"
who install software. That software is inaccessable to me
and other users.

REASON:... NO ENTRIES were installed in the reg. in my
name or other users of the system. Bad programming.

What this means is this: If I log on and install
software, my files created by "MY" installation will be
sent to the registry in "MY_NAME" and to my user account
in the folder named "MY_NAME".

If trouble exhist delete user accounts. Make sure you
delete the Account folders as XP will leave in place the
folders.

Check reg. entries.

No, the problem relates to the security permissions that are placed on
certain registry entries by the installer. This is a known issue with Beta
1, and it will not be fixed until Beta 2.

There is nothing more to say, it has all been covered before. This is a
known issue with Beta 1. It will not be fixed until Beta 2.
