Hi there!

I am just sitting here scanning some slides and negatives. Having done
the slides I started the negatives and wondered why the negatives take
so much longer to scan compared to the slides, although exposure is 1.7
for the slides and 1 for the negatives? I am only outputting to RAW scan
files. I thought that there isn't a difference when RAW scanning. I then
tried scanning my negatives with vuescan set to "slide" and it was
faster again, but looking at the raw scans one could see that the
"negative" raw scans look modified, whereas the "slide" raw scans look
as they do when looking at them.
I thought all the negative settings are postprocessing, seems I was
wrong.
The scanner is a Minolta Dimage Scan Multi Pro and I am scanning with
Vuescan.

regards
Markus

When "Input|Media type" is set to "Color negative", the red, green
and blue CCD exposure times are 1.0, 2.5 and 3.5 times the value
in "Input|RGB exposure".

Raw files output with media type set to color negative will look
different. In this case (only?), Vuescan modifies the proportions of
red/green/blue exposure, I believe at the hardware level. It'
mentioned (somewhere) in the help file.
