I am exploring the possibility of deploying a different
DNS hierachy compared to the domain hierarchy.
e.g. If I have a forest named test.local and a domain
named nr.test.local, can I/how do I establish regional DNS
zones within nr.test.local, so DNS zones can be managed
regionally, but corresponding regional domains are NOT
created?
Example:
- DNS zones EMEA.nr.test.local and APAC.nr.test.local
Domain nr.test.local
- Clients in APAC register records in APAC zone, ditto for
EMEA. Each zone is managed by regional DNS support staff.
- All zones hosted by 3rd party address managament
solution (incl W2K domain zones).
BTW - all clients are W2K/XP and all DCs are W2K. No plans
to upgrade to w2k3 just yet
Any ideas / sugestions?
Thanks,
Neil
