I have a data series that is basically department, sub cat and spend
which I can easily chart. What I currently do manually is change th
format of the bars (or whatever) to group the departments together.

Anyone know of a way of this happening automatically? (I've rea
through stuff, but can't seem to work it out).

Look forward to responses!

Data looks like:
Accomdation Bed & Breakfast £14,142,192
IT IT Maitanance £1,942,020
IT Telecomms £1,173,698
Marketing Printing £888,911

^^^^^^^ is the department that I want to group in a chart by colour.

For a somewhat different but close look, create a PivotTable (and
PivotChart). Put the department column as the row field, the sub-cat
as the column field, and the Expenditures as the data field.

The default is a stacked column chart with every item a different
color. Though not exactly what you want, it is pretty close.

I was going to suggest a conditional chart, but a Pivot Table separates
the data more easily than writing a bunch of formulas.

If you do series by rows, you get three series, and the IT series has
two non-zero items.
