Dear Jones,

PPS is the power point show, & ppt is power point presentation,

in power point presentation u can change the contents & if want to show , u
have option of slide show,

in pps, if you click, it directly open as slide show, if u want to change
some content you have to change the extention from .pps to .ppt

I hope this information is useful to you.

A file with a ppt extension opens by default in the PowerPoint application
window.
A file with a pps extension opens by default in Slide Show view - save it
this way when you want people to go directly to viewing your presentation.
Since double clicking now runs the show instead of opening it in PowerPoint,
to edit this file open PowerPoint first and then use the open option to open
the pps file for editing.
Hope that helps clear it up for you a little...

The only difference is the way they open PPT opens in the edit mode, and PPS opens in the slideshow mode. If you only have the viewer on your system, there is no difference, the both open in the slideshow mode.
