Hi

I have a SONY VAIO laptop, bought in the UK last summer, with preinstalled
XP MCE (and lots of other software).

Are there any (technical...?) differences between the Vista Ultimate Upgrade
UK and US versions?

I would like to buy the cheaper US version for the upgrade if there are no
disadvantages.

Thanks and Regards!

No, localisation is part of the install process.

All along i thought that the HomeBasivN & BusinessN were for the EU & they
came w/o certain functions that the EU made MS remove or be fined.

Partly correct. The EU forced Microsoft to provide the N versions
without Media Player etc to those who wanted them. They didn't require
Microsoft to refuse to sell non-N versions to EU members, just to give
them the option to buy N versions.

And nobody bought them. I know a lot of computer stores and not a one of
them carry it. I think the EU was silly doing that. If someone wants
Real Player, WinAmp or Quick Time, they are free to download them and
install them on XP and I assume Vista.
