Hey mates,
i would like to ask you what's the difference for example between a 2.0 GHZ Pentium 4 Processor & a 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Duo ?

Thanks in advance

We could get technical but that would be dull.

So, basically the first thing is that the Core 2 Duo - so in effect it is two processors in one, so you can multi-task at great speed.

Secondly, it is an entirely new processor from the P4. It can do in 2ghz what it would take a Pentium 4/5ghz to do. The performance jump is quite silly.

Thirdly, it uses much less power even than the slower Pentium 4s.

It also runs much cooler than Pentium 4s, so it's cooler fan can run slower and quieter. It also means there is a lot more overcloking headroom.

That is my little summary.

Hope it helps. :)

And if your thinking of upgrading, then that means a whole new motherboard

Thanks mates ... So now , the core 2 duo is taking the first place in the processor's market .
Any Comparison of core 2 duo with a rival processors' company ?

Respect

Potguy - go to the top of the class - a perfect summary :D :thumb:

Alexocrate: At the moment Intel do have the lead over AMD although it's quite a close run thing.

Intel finally got their act together after years of false starts and failed promises.

The Dual Core Duo's are good chips :)
