I was looking for any duplicate contacts in the "contacts" folder, but what
is the difference between the contacts folder and the main identity contacts
folder?

Thank you.

Outlook has no such thing as a "Main Identity." Are you using Outlook? If
so, what version?

My outlook does have such a thing. I have outlook 2007.

I doubt you are using Outlook 2007. No version of Outlook has ever used the
term "Main Identity." I suspect you are not using Outlook at all. Might you
be using Outlook Express? This newsgroup is for support of Outlook 97, 98,
2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007 from the Office family for Intel PCs. For Outlook
Express (OE) support try posting in this newsgroup:
news://msnews.microsoft.com.microsoft,public.windoes.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

If this group isn't carried on the news server that's carrying this group
try using msnews.microsoft.com (MS's public news server that's the source
for all the microsoft.public newsgroups).

Also a good source of Outlook Express info can be found here:

Assuming that you are referring to a "contact folder" called "Main Identity"
in Outlook '2007, it would be something that was created either by you or
someone else. No Outlook version creates a folder called "Main Identity" by
default.

Having said that - the term "Identities" and specifically "Main Identity" is
one used with Outlook Express. Is it possible that you or someone has
somehow imported data from OE into a manually created folder called "Main
Identity"?
