difference between hits and visits

Hello,

I am using Frontpage 2002 and would like to know the difference between
'hits' and 'visits'.

Hi,
A visit is one guy visiting your site. A hit is one request for a file, so
if you have say 5 images on a page one person viewing the page would be 1
visit but 6 hits (5 images plus the page itself)
