I'm trying to determine if I need to go to dynamic drives on XPproSP1 where
I have 1 Primary and 1 Extended Partition w/7partitions.
Any references? Thanks. /Howard

A dynamic drive is a means really intended for servers for making
several drives look like a single one. I would *not* use it at all on
any personal machine

Once you have converted a disk to "Dynamic" is it possible to convert it
back to "Basic"?

No. Once you go to a Dynamic drive, you cannot go back to Basic.

Jeff:

You can change back to Basic disk, but you will loose all of your data. You
cannot change individual vols back to partitions, as ddisk applies to the
entire disk.

From MS:
"After you convert to a dynamic disk, the dynamic volumes cannot be changed
back to partitions. You must first delete all dynamic volumes on the disk,
and then convert the dynamic disk back to a basic disk. If you want to keep
your data, you must first back up or move the data to another volume."
