Difference between a 'socket 370' CPU vs a 'slot 1' CPU?

Hi there;
Can someone explain to me the difference between a 'socket 370' CPU vs
a 'slot 1' CPU?
The reason I'm asking is that I want to upgrade my CPU from Pent2 to
Pent3 450 MHZ (on an Asus P3B-F motherboard).
Whilst searching the net for info, I read that I can upgrade to an
even higher MHZ if I use an adapter -I am assuming that I would then
be looking for a 'socket 370' CPU because they seem to have higher
MHZ.

Slot 1 is a card-like device, the CPU sits on a small rectangular board and
it plugs into the motherboard on a card edge, like a video card or sound
card. There is a specific slot just for the CPU.

Socket370 is a pinned CPU. It has 370 pins sticking out the bottom, and it
plugs into a socket on the motherboard with 370 holes.

While an adapter would let you plug as socket370 CPU into a Slot1 board, the
board would need to understand the speed of the CPU being used.

Slot1 is practically like s370 on Slotket adapter.
Get a Celeron Tualatin & Slot-T (strattoncomputers.com) if you can &
you are done!

The Tualatin runs at 1.5V. P3b-f's lowest voltage is 1.8v. Is this
safe or possible to run?

IMHO that board has a newer voltage regulator & can go lower than
1,8Vcore (but I am not shure!) check the compatibility list on
upgradeware.com ... for Slot-T
