Diff between mobo versions.

I can usually understand the difference in specs about
different versions of motherboards from the same
manufacturer using the same basic chipset. For instance,
I understand the difference between the Asus A7N8X,
A7N8X-X, -VM, etc. But why do Asus imply on their
website that certain versions of a basic series (like the
K8V and K8N series) are for Semprons while another
version is touted as a great A64 mobo ?

Is it simply because the cut-down versions are economy
models intended for budget systems and an end-user
may want to pair them with S754 Semprons ? Are they
equally good for A64s albeit without some extra
features like Wifi, IEEE1394 ?

Umm.. From memery, I believe that the A7N8X baords are Socket A. And they
suck realy bad.... And they dont support A64!

My question was not about the A7N8X series. I mentioned
them only as an example of different versions of the same series.
And they don't suck. I've used more than 50 of them and they
perform very well.

My question was about different versions of the K8V and
K8N series for A64 and S754 Sempron CPUs.

Then your lucky, I have 4 in different machines and they all run poorly or
have somthing

Sorry, missread your question. If I where you, I would look for a review
comparing the two.

Then you have either BIOS or OS set wrong. They're noting
special (I dont' mean "bad", just not unusual), a standard
setup will work with them as well as any board running
Windows.
