Hello!

I turned on an old Dell machine yesterday, using Windows 2000 SP4. I
noticed that it was an hour behind. Did I miss an update from MS to fix
this time zone issue since I am in pacific time zone? Or did MS never
release one like for XP? It should had changed automatically as of last
Sunday.

Thank you in advance. :)

There was no uptate or fix issued for Windows 2000, you have to do the
fix manually. You can use Tzedit or registry edits to change it or you
can use fix issued by third parties, such as the Intelliadmin DST patch
which works very well.

Ah. I thought MS did in the past. Oh well. What's the registry trick
(.reg would be nice)? :)

You have picked the hardest way, but here you go:

How to configure daylight saving time for Microsoft Windows operating
systems
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387

After you do the changes don't forget to adjust the Time Zone on your
machine, use the Time/Date applet to move the machine to a different
Time Zone then move it back to the proper Time Zone and *apply* the changes.

After you read that lengthy article you may get second thoughts, so I
may as well give you this right now:

In my opinion the Intelliadmin patch is really the way to go with this,
it works very well and it is so easy to use.

Thanks. The export and import registry method doesn't look that bad. I
am only doing it on one old machine. Or am I missing something?
