Did Microsoft actually release VS 2005 on November 7th?

If you go to their site
(http://www.microsoft.com/products/info/render.aspx?view=22&type=mnp&content=22/reseller)
it shows resellers. But, Tiger Direct, CompUSA, Fry's, NewEgg, etc. don't
show VS 2005 on their websites (or in the local stores).

So, what's the deal? Is it released to the general public or just MSDN
subscribers?

Just wondering....
Yes, it's available. Here's an example:

I guess I just find it odd that Microsoft wouldn't have Visual Studio in
stores for the Nov 7th launch.

What if they launched Vista without it in the stores?

Now, *that* wouldn't make any sense.......and neither does this.

In addition to the link, I have a friend who ordered VS 2005 Professional
from Programmers Paradise on November 10 and got it on November 14th.

BTW the official release was "the week of November 7th".
What stores did you not find it in?

Fry's, Best Buy, CompUSA, MicroCenter, and the online store NewEgg.com.

I was just asking because some friends of mine want just the pro version
without a MSDN subscription. They are part-time programmers and like to
code for fun.

The express versions are neat, but they leave out a few tools that can be
very helpful when coding your solutions.

Most developers don't go to bricks and mortar shops for development
tools, whereas consumers often go there for operating systems.

I suspect *most* developers who use Visual Studio professionally have
MSDN subscriptions - and that most of those who don't go through
resellers. The stores you're talking about probably don't sell much in
the way of development tools, so it's no wonder it'll take a while for
them to bother with 2005.

Amazon.com sells it though, if that's any help.
