Did I get screwed on memory?

I paid for
" [1024MB X2] DDR2-800 PC6400 Memory Module Corsair-Value or Major
Brand "

but what CPU-Z shows:

Slot 1
Mushkin DDR2 400 Mhz PC2-6400 1024MBytes correction none EPP no

Slot 2
Mushkin DDR2 400 Mhz PC2-6400 1024MBytes correction none EPP no

Now to the lamen (thats me), I read "DDR2-800" to mean 800 Mhz... but
I'm only getting 400 Mhz. Is this the right nomenclature?

Im a little paranoid, because the shop that I ordered this pc from is
a 1 man operation with no store front.

DDR2 400Mhz = DDR 2 800, because DDR double the clock rate.

You can't change the DDR2 number without affecting the PC number. In other
words, to rip you off, he would have had to have given you DDR2 400 Mhz
PC2-3200 memory.

CPU-ID say 400 Mhz..Thats what it should say ...your DDR2 memory does 2
things for each clock
so 400 x 2 = 800 .
If you want to worry over something..consider the timings ...the top 4 in
CPU-ID are the most
relvant ....what you got ??? 5,5,5,15 ....maybe . 12.

Thanks, the Timings Table shows 2 columns:

Frequency 266 Mhz 400Mh
CAS# Latency 4.0 5.0
RAS# to CAS# 4 5
RAS# Precharge 4 5
Tras 12 18
Trc 16 23

Under timings:
Cycle Time (Tras) 31 clocks
Bank Cycle (Trc) 23
Command Rate: 2T

Is this Corsair value better?

The number of clocks given changes dependent on the FSB speed the sys is
using ..
There is no set of 'right' values.

4x4x4x10 at 266Mhx Bus speed will become (say e.g.) 5x5x5x15 at 400Mhz.
Ignore the later timing values given.
CAS , RAS to CAS, RAS Pre. Tras at 5,5,5,12 (maybe 15) is what you should
expect with that
memory at 400Mhz (x2 is therefore 800) .
If you want to worry at this you will need to go into the BIOS startup &
fiddle
with the settings & perhaps SLIGHTLY increase the Mem volts from 1.8 to 1.9.
But for all that its not going to make much improvement ..
Your 800Mhz is OK as it is.
CAS means 'column address select' RAS 'row address select'
