I recently bought the Epson RX500 to replace my Lexmark X73. I liked
the
features of the Epson such as the high resolution scanner, the built-in
slide scanner, the photo capabilities, and it's 3 in 1 abilities. Also,
I own an Epson LQ 500 which seems to have more lives than the Eveready
Batteries. However, I am finding out that it's not cheap to enjoy all
this, as replacing the six cartridges can be expensive. Refilling seems
to be discouraged by Epson with their built in chip monitors. I read
about the chip resetters, but am concerned that this is only a gimmick.
I was told by Epson that even if one color cartridge empties, the
printer
will not allow any further printing (black or color). Seems like they
did
this on purpose to generate more revenue. I also read where it is
difficult to refill the OEM cartridges, so it is recommended to buy
special refillable cartridges (another unnecessary expense).
Maybe I should have bought an equivalent Canon?
