dialup modem dropping offline

I have recently done a clean install of Windows XP
professional on my PC.

I am encountering a problem with my 56K PCI modem dropping
offline indiscriminantly. I have troubleshot the line
using another computer and have traced the problem to
something internal to my machine. Using the driver made
for windows XP from the OEM and letting XP pick a driver
have not successfully worked.

Is anyone out there having the same issue or has anyone
arrived at a solution?

Mat,Sorry no answer but am having same problem. XP pro,
Del, connexant smarthcf, dynalink modem(pci). The
manufactura says best us XP driver unless you have
problems....now I'm BSOD with modem installed. do you
know what moden your is?
