Dialog boxes are truncated

The layouts of buttons and other controls in certain
dialog boxes on my Dimension 8200 have expanded so they no
longer fit within the bounds of the window. These windows
are not resizable, so there is no way to make the
truncated portions visible.

For example, my Epson printer's Printing Preferences
dialog box truncates text and controls on its right-hand
and bottom edges. Its Print Preview check box is totally
invisible, off the bottom of the window.

Most program windows and property windows are not affected.

Though I think the monitor is not at the root of this
problem, I have nevertheless tried changing its
resolution, reinstalling the video card driver, and
performing a recall on the monitor, all to no avail.

This problem came about when I recently reduced the number
of fonts on my computer. The problem persists even though
I have reinstalled all fonts that had been removed.

I run Windows 2000 Professional.

With nothing selected press f1 for Windows 2000 help. Enter 'fonts'
into the search text box on the Index tab. Be sure to check the
sub-topics 'installing' and 'size of system font' New fonts must be
installed. You can't just copy them into the appropriate folder and
have them available.

My problem is solved as follows. In Display Properties,
Settings tab, Advanced button, the Font Size is set to
Small Fonts. I simply changed it to Large Fonts,
established that setting with a reboot, then changed back
to Small Fonts and rebooted.
