dialog box drop-down menu

for example, when I want to search in "Google", and I
want to enter the word "house", as soon as I enter the
first letter....h....a bunch of words drop down that I
have previously used.....how can I turn that feature Off
(or what is the procedure for off/on, etc?)
 
Dear Kelly....thanks, that worked. But, I recall in past when it happened, it was by accident, and it had something to do woth holding down one or more of the keys for a certain amount of time. Is that also another way to turn it on and off?
