I have McAfee Firewall running. It keeps showing alerts
every few seconds that a program is trying to access the
internet. I suspect there is some sort of infection on my
computer, some program trying to give me a huge phone bill
or download some adware, or something. The alert shows the
program name trying to connect, but it's just a jumble of letters
and numbers.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mdxma0ijoizet.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\s90894otr3f5.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\iog00npyifg.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vro5ddbs3r9.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\2el7vu0wjfm.exe

I always deny these programs access to the internet, but
the alert pops up again within 1 minute, with a different program
name.

I've run AVG anti-virus, but that finds nothing. I've also cleaned
my system with AdAware, Spybot and CWshredder.

Any ideas what's happening?

You've definitely got some trojans on your system. Make sure that all
your av and spyware removal tools have been updated. Run all scans in
Safe Mode. In addition to the tools you've mentioned, I like to use a
combination of HijackThis and AboutBuster. You can get those programs
from MajorGeeks. Please read the instructions carefully as these
programs need expert skill.

You also need to go through your system and manually delete files like
you've detailed above. Make sure you've set your Folder Options *not*
to hide any system files (two places) or file extensions for known
programs.

Sound like an infection, that is replicating itself, with a different name,
when denied access.
You can run an online AV scan via most of the AV companies web sites.
In any case the files given do not 'look right', tried checking their
properties?

These look like trojans. Use the trojan elimination program Stinger (free
off the web). Removing the posted exe files , as others have suggested would
be prudent. This may have to be done in Safe Mode. Jym

I should have added: I've looked for the files, but they don't seem to
exist.

Youve looked for hidden files?
If McAfee gives that msg it either means the files exist or McAfee is giving
false info
Its all looking very iffy
Run the online scans, particularly the McAfee one, if it finds nothing try
Mcafee tech, as you do have their product.
