dial up password problem

I can't get my dial up to save the correct password. It
works if if type in the correct password but, won't save
it. I have tried all the 'properties and preferences',
removed and reinstalled the dial up but cant get the
correct password
 
Are you sure it's not saving it? XP will always display a stored password
as 14 dots to hide it's length, but it should still work.
