Recently my dial-up connection are missing. I go into my
network connection and there is nothing there. I double
click on the descktop Icon and it connects me. But there
is no icon in the tray and if I double click it agian it
trys to connect again. Where before if I double clicked
it a second time it should me the details. I have made
new connections and they show up in the network
connection list until I close the window; if I reopened
the window it is gone. any ideas. The only change to my
system is an install of Final Fantay

I too have noticed the same thing after installing FF.
And I can no longer run the home/small networking wizard
now.

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.

Goodness!! Thats my EXACT problem too! And I too
installed FFXI... I'm thinking it must be FF thats
screwed us all over.. Lets hope they fix that soon! I'm
tired of restarting my computer everytime I want to sign
off line! And it's so frustrating without the icon cause
I don't know if I'm signed on at 28, 32, 48!
