Dial-up connection

The problem is as follows:
I have a 700 mHz Dell, which came with Windows 98, that has been upgraded to Windows XP Home Edition.
The system has worked fine for several months. It originally had a dial-up to the Internet, but was converted to a Broadband system via a network card. Christmas I gave the system to my grandson. We are trying to return it to a dial-up system. I disabled the network attachment.

I have been trying to return to a dial-up system. The system will not let me form a dial-up attachment.
I have re-installed the Windows XP Home Edition system. I have looked under the Computer Management folder and have found that the following services are not able to be started:

1. Remote Access Auto Connections Manager
Will not start, gives error message 1068.

2. Remote Access Connections Manager
Will not start, gives error message 5 Access denied

Does anybody know what to do? I need help to get my grandson’s computer working so he can access the internet.

I think your digging in the wrong place. Remote access allows people to dial
into your computer via your phone number.

In I.E., go to Tools/Internet options, the click on the "Connections" tab.
Try using the "Setup" button at the top, and answer it's questions. That
should fix it.

I'm getting the same error messages with XP Pro. I can't go through the set-up wizard to create a dial-up connection because the wizard won't let me select the modem as and option to connect to the internet. It only allows me to pick the last option for an internet connection which is for a DSL connection.

Any more ideas?

See if this addresses your problem...

"Dial up wizard isn't available..."

This is a common problem to many, caused by re-installing windows over another windows. I too lost my dial up and the only way to be here now was to re-install windows xp in another partition on the hard drive using a dif file name. ( windowsb ) this was not to save my data. Now I have 2 operating systems ( pretty annoying ). AND kellys korner didn't help.
