dial up connection = remember password problem

My OS is WinXP with IE 6. Every time I use the dialup connection box and
enter my password, then check the remember password option I get through the
first time. the next time I try to dialup IE has entered a new password. I
have tried to change it by removing and re-installing my ISP connection and
entering the password there. No luck, it
re-installs it's own password. Any sugestions appreciated, maybe something
in the registry?

Have you tried using the "changed" password?
WinXP intentionally displays the wrong password length.
