All of a sudden I'm having a difficult time always getting online with
Internet Explorer. It worked just fine since purchasing a new computer in
July. The email program works just fine, but when I attempt to get in to a
website it won't come on line. I go into Tools-Internet Options-Connections
Tab-Settings-and look at the Password field to discover that it has too many
characters in it, so I change it to the correct password and click OK and OK
again to get out. Sometimes that works and Internet Explorer connects, and
sometimes it does not. So I go through the same routine under Tools and
there it is again....wrong Password. Why won't the Password field stay
changed to the correct password!@!@!

Err... It probably does? It just shows (you're using XP?) 15 characters (or
is it 16?) by default no matter how many characters you type. Changing the
password's not likely been doing anything more than making you wait a minute
and then dial out again at which time your connection goes through smoothly.

The password is not being changed. SP always add ** to the password field to prevent anyone from
knowing the actual number of characters in the password. This is done for your protection.

If my problem has nothing to do with a password issue, would you happen to
have any ideas as to what is causing my connecting problems when the email
works OK. I have Windows XP.

I have downloaded the "WINSOCKFIX" from www.tacktech.com website. So
hopefully this resolves my problem. I guess only time will tell. Thank you
so much for your help.
