Dial Up connection password problem

Matt

I'm setting up a new computer at work that's running WinXP (with all the
latest updates) and I've created a new dial up connection for our ISP (and
before anyone says anything, there's no DSL/Cable/ISDN available anywhere in
the area). The dial up connection short cut works just fine, but if I'm
offline and try to just start IE6 or Outlook Express the dial up window
replaces the 4 character password with one that's 15 characters long. I
have removed the connection and recreated it through IE6 and I've changed
the password in IE in the connections settings but it still defaults back to
the 15 character password. What am I doing wrong?

It isn't really replacing your password with a 15 character password. It is simply scrambling the display, making it more difficult for anyone to guess the password.

But it won't connect... it give's me an invallid password warning every time

I guess the problem lies elsewhere, thanks for hte info though!

Try unchecking the "remember my password" box. Then connect by typing in the password. Once you have successfully entered the password manually and connected, then put it back in the box and recheck "remember my password."
