Dial up connection not recognized by XP

When I dial out to my ISP, I get the icon that I am
connected to the internet; however, IE, Outlook Express
and all other programs with internet access are not able
to transfer data. I am able to ping other sites when I
use the IP address numbers, but not when I use the site
name (i.e. MSN.com).

Did you remove some "spyware" or "adware" lately? Incorrect removal of
LOP.COM or NEW.NET can cause this problem.
