Dial-up connection box

My dial-up connection box pops up when I am working in
any application and if I am not looking at the screen I
spend some time redoing things that I thought I was doing.
I installed the spyware program and ran that on the
advice of a Microsoft instructor but the program found
nothing on my computer. What makes the box popup when it
is not clicked on? Help Please. Thanks
 
Maybe its requesting checking the Internet for definition updates. My
installation pops up a dial up box with the MSAS update icon on it.
