Any insight to the following would be appreciated;

I have a Small Business Server 2000 with a DSL connection
and a modem. I would like to set up the modem for dial in
access, when the DSL goes down.

What I have done:
* Installed modem, tested
* Enable RRAS
* Added 192.168.2.x IP block to distribute to RAS clients
* Added 192.168.2.x to my LAT in ISA
* Added connection from an XP machine in a remote
location.

WHat it will do now:
* Will dial number, Server will answer
* Am able to log on after being athenticated.

At this point, I can see I have a valid IP via my dial up
connection, but I can not ping the server (which is at
192.168.1.1) from my IP address of 192.168.2.10.

* Why does the modem not show as an Interface?
* Do I need to configure routes? If yes, do I need the
modem to appear as an Interface for this?

THanks for any help,

If you look at the details tab of the connection properties on the
client (after you connect), you will see the IP address allocated to the
client and the address allocated to the server (a 192.168.2 address from the
pool). In the RRAS console, you will see this IP address is associated with
the "internal" interface. This is the server end of the PPP connection.

You should be able to ping the server using this IP 192.168.2 address.
You will need to enable LAN routing in RRAS to be able to ping the 192.168.1
addresses from the remote client (since they are in different IP subnets).
