Hi guys

I have two Windows XP Pro machines at different locations. Both have 56k modems. I'm wondering if it is possible for one of the machines to dial in to the other and get access to files on it.

If this is possible, what software if any would I need

Cheers

John

Yes, you can. The info is in Windows Xp Help.

You need to have incoming connections enable on one machine and dial out
from the other machine.

Check this link for details on incoming connection

I want to ask if it is possible to connect to the Internet using the connection which is active to the other computer... remotely (..I have a DSL connection on home computer (WinXP-Pro) and i want to use it to connect to the Internet, remotely, from my office computer (WinXP-Pro) which can connect to home (as you described below) through Dial-up connection (56K modems))

Thanks in advanc

Set up a PPTP VPN. Poke holes in the router and firewall. Connect.

It should be that easy - and it is once you get everything configured
properly. The most likely problems will come with firewalls so you
might want to disable them to get started. Later you can figure out
how to configure the firewall. Or you can get Kerio and it will
self-configure.

I dont know if I understand right, but I dont want to access to my home network through a PPTP (VPN). I cannot have Internet connection from my office... the only I can have is a dial-up connection to my home. So, that I want to know if its possible is to use that dial-up connection (office to home) and then have access to Internet (from office) using the DSL connection which will be active at home
I am sorry if I understand wrong what you wrote..

Thank
Georg

Yes it is possible. Have you tried it out? Are you facing any problems?

Yes.. I have tried it.. and I can not have access to internet remotely
I managed to connect both computers via dial-up (home computer is hearing incoming connections .. which has the DSL connection active - no firewall) but I can not browse internet from office through that connection... IE6 can not open pages (or other applications which use internet access can not work)
I would appreciate any help to solve the problem

Thank
